Speed Surveys

Speed surveys are usually undertaken midblock, such as to obtain the maximum speed profile, location does sometime vary or become close to an intersection if there is a unique data need often associated with a road safety issue.

Collection techniques can include:

  • Radar Speed gun
  • Data Logger
  • Recorder Time of vehicles between 2 known points, eg record registration plate and time.

GPS can also be a useful device for analysis of speed profiles for certain known vehicles, say a bus or tram or ferry, plus the provision of other route based information and travel times.
